Here is a selection of our most frequently asked questions concerning our
APARTMENTS IN LES COCHES
but please contact us if you have any other questions ,  however small.....

Is your apartment ‘ski in \ ski out’?

At our Apartments in Les Coches :  It is possible to ski back at the end of the day to the back
f the apartment building from the blue piste that goes to the chairlift in Les Coches.
From the back of the apartment building you can see the path by the orange padding
at the top of the hill behind the little chalet called le petit mazot.
Here is an image taken from the piste towards the apartment building.

We all ski but we're taking our 5 year old grandson for the first time next year so is the ski school easily accessible?

We are lucky to have a really good ski school here in Les Coches and our guests really love it too.  Evolution 2 in Les Coches village centre (by the Spar)
here is their link    http://montchavin.evolution2.com/en/
We have many guests with young children who come back year after year because the children have loved their lessons.  They only ever have a maximum of 8 in a group and make sure that it’s fun for everyone whilst making sure everyone improves too.

What are the snow conditions like early or late in the season?

The resort of La Plagne is one of the highest resorts in the Europe and opens its lifts to holidaymakers from middle of December until late April every year.

We have been here since 2002 and we have always been able to ski back to home throughout the season. Even in a worse case scenario sometimes

conditions may be 'better' further up the mountain or over in Les Arcs, but you can always get a ski lift there, no need for buses.

How far is the nearest bar for apres ski?
Les Coches village centre is very close (3-5 minutes on foot max.) to the apartments in Les Coches and there are a number of options for bars and
restaurants So head for the village square and you will find something that you like.

We are a party of single sex 18-25 year olds looking for a lively inexpensive ski holiday - is this the right place?

Montchavin and Les Coches are both family friendly resorts with around 7 bars and around 10-15 village restaurants and one night club. If you are at all unsure please contact us and we can chat about what our apartments are like and what Montchavin and Les Coches have to offer.

Do you allow smoking in the apartments?

NO !!!!! Smoking in any of our apartments is strictly not allowed.  We thank you for your understanding.

We would like to pay for the apartment in cash on arrival - is that ok?

We ask our guests to pay the full amount of their holiday accommodation two months before they arrive.  We also ask all our guests to make sure they have suitable holiday insurance.  Should your group or family have a problem and cannot travel then you would be insured for this scenario within your travel insurance.   Unfortunately we are not insured for guests not being able to travel etc. We hope you understand our reasons here.

We accept cash for other items, such as the caution deposit, taxe de sejour, towels and linen.

What will be provided on our arrival?

Our apartments are self catering apartments, therefore guests are expected to provide their own consumable items, such as condiments & oils etc, kitchen towel, bin bags, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and toilet roll.  We don't leave food that previous guests haven't used for the next guests in the apartment purely for hygiene and safety reasons.

We include a toilet roll, tea towel, kitchen bin liner, small amount of washing up liquid and a washing up cloth.

Is there a washing machine for guests to use?

Sorry, no, there isn't space in the apartment.  There are launderette facilities in the village next to the Tourist Information Office.

What happens if we have a problem during our stay?

It’s important to us that we are providing an excellent standard of accommodation. We have given as much accurate information as possible about our chalet, our apartments and the villages of Montchavin and Les Coches in our website to help all our guests make the right choice.

If any issues arise during your stay no matter how small, we provide various options to contact us depending on its urgency. You can choose to:
Text us via sms message e.g. bulb has gone in toilet bellecote apartment.

Email us we check our emails every hour or so.

Telephone us

We will always resolve issues as soon as possible and keep you informed of the outcome.

What happens if somebody falls ill or injures themselves during your stay?

Montchavin\Les Coches has a good medical centre and an English speaking doctor who is used to dealing with winter injuries and general illness. We provide the telephone number as well as location and opening time in the information pack in the apartments. If you require any assistance during your stay we understand how stressful this can be so please telephone us and we will do all we can to help.

One of our party doesn’t like skiing much what else is there to do during the day?

OK..... it’s a surprise to us avid skiers that it’s possible to enjoy our mountain without skis or a board on. Here are just a few suggestions on how to enjoy this wonderful part of the world without careering down a mountain at high speed!!!!
Indoor swimming pool and spa just a few minutes walk to Montchavin.

Nature trail walks and snow shoeing organised by local tourist office.

Cross country lessons and trails.

Good pedestrian access to lifts so you can meet up with family for a picnic or at a mountainside restaurant.

During the season we often take a lift up the mountain and follow numerous well sign posted routes back to the village. (you can hire snow shoes in the village)

Free shuttle bus service so you can explore the shops and bars of Les Coches and Montchavin

Just a short drive away is the Vanoise National Park. This has truly amazing views and scenery and wildlife. We regularly see Chamoix and Marmotts there...

We are an all adult group will the apartment be spacious enough for us all?

At the Apartments in Les Coches - both our apartments here measure 23m2 each and both apartments are both equipped with full size adult beds.  Whilst the beds are full size adult beds please bear in mind the overall size of the apartment and make sure it is big enough for your group to be comfortable.

We would ask you to take a good look at the floorplans and photographs along with the detailed descriptions of the apartments so you can make a fully informed decision as to the suitability of the apartment for your group.

We are happy to answer any questions or queries that you may have, however small.

We are thinking of getting the Eurostar or travelling by train, would you recommend this?

YES....... When we lived in the UK we tried all travel methods and found the train to be by far the most relaxing. You can either get the direct Eurostar service

to Bourg St Maurice or Eurostar to Paris and the overnight sleeper service to Bourg St Maurice.

If you are traveling by train, try to find a train that stops at LANDRY, so that you can link in with the public bus that collects from the station and brings guests up as far as Montchavin or Les Coches.  Otherwise you will need to factor in the price of a transfer from Bourg St Maurice or Aime to the chalet.

Do we need a car when we are here?

A car is a convenient luxury for any independent ski holiday. It is by no means essential as shopping can be done locally in the well equipped supermarket and local shops you will find most things available without having to drive anywhere. However, as with every resort you can expect to pay 20-30% more in the local supermarket than in the larger supermarkets on the valley floor. If you are driving out try to stop off before you arrive to stock up on your essentials or better still bring your favorites from home.

Guests often find they don’t use their car at all during their stay.

We have a disabled/elderly member of our party, is your accommodation suitable?

At our Apartments in Les Coches :  There is a small road/path that runs in front of the apartments and a short but steep incline to access the terrace.  If you
re considering staying in our Les Coches apartments please ask us for plenty of photographs of the access to help you make the right decision. Both the apartments are on the ground floor, but the internal measurements of the apartment would not be suitable for wheelchair access.

We have young children and would like to know what equipment is available for our children?

We can provide high chair, potty, travel cot or bed guard for our very small guests, subject to availability.

What type of ski pass would you recommend?

This is entirely dependent on your ski level and how much you like to cruise. As a general rule we would suggest the following:
Complete beginner – group lessons with pass included in package.
Intermediate, Expert and beyond....... At least a full La Plagne pass and if you can go for the full Paradiski pass.  We are only one lift away from the Vanoise Express that links La Plagne with Les Arcs and as it is so close, it would be a shame to miss out on the opportunity to ski in Les Arcs as well.

Please bear in mind that for certain lengths of stay you will have one day over in Les Arcs included in your La Plagne ski pass.

Nice to explore there for a day if you are unsure.

We are bit worried about paying for our holiday in advance, how do we know you really exist?

We fully understand that you maybe concerned and have heard horror stories to this effect. For this reason we want to provide our guests with the following assurance:
1. We are happy to email a copy of our french business registration 'KBis' certificate.

2. We work closely with Evolution 2 ski school in Montchavin, they would be happy to confirm this.

3. We often use facebook to post photos of our off piste trips please feel free to have a look at the facebook links on this page.

Is it possible for a later checkout time ?

We ask our guests to vacate the apartments no later than 10am. It is very unusual that we don't have guests arriving the same day so we need this time to prepare the apartment. Guests can also book at very short notice so we must plan for this..... However if you would like a later checkout time please ask

and we will do our best to accommodate this. If this is possible and it is for longer than 2 hours we will change a late checkout fee to cover the running

costs of the apartment and rescheduling of changeover staff.

When planning your flights and transfers we ask you to always plan for a 10 am departure to avoid any disappointment.

We are fortunate to have a very good indoor swimming pool and spa nearby in the village of Montchavin, and many guests choose this as an option on there last day.

Could you store our bags on transfer day ?

At our Apartments in Les Coches:  There is a 'baggagerie' facility that is bookable via the Tourist Information office, so you can leave your bags there with

them while you ski.
